The GYROKINESIS® Method
The definition of the Greek word "gyro" means circle, and the word "kinesis" means movement/motion. Thus, the gyrokinesis exercise is based on circular movement, mobilizing and articulating the natural range of joints and ligaments, while exercising the musculature without jarring or compression.
Gyrokinesis exercise addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is an original and unique method, which coordinates movement, breath and mental focus.
Class starts sitting on a stool, where we will awaken the senses, and begin to explore our connection to our spine, and the rest of our anatomy.
Slowly we will build upon these movements, adding coordination of limbs and the rest of the body.
Then there will be some floor work on a yoga mat to integrate the lower half of the body, and well as standing exercises.
